Spin-on Oil Filter Adapter
Step 1 - Remove the original oil filter assembly.
Step 2 - Clean engine block surface.
Step 3 - Apply a light coating of sealant or light grease to both sides of the supplied gasket.
Step 4 - Place the bolts through the mounting holes in the adapter, then fit the gasket to the adapter.
Step 5 - Install adapter to engine block, making sure that the tapped holes on adapter are facing the front of the engine!!!!. Tighten the bolts using a 5/8" open or box end wrench.
]Step 6 - After mounting the adapter as indicated above, attach the oil pressure sending unit(s). The adapter is tapped with dual oil pressure ports. The original Land Rover oil pressure tap is 3/8 x 20 BSF. For the use of aftermarket oil pressure gauges or prelube equipment, the adapter is supplied with a 1/8 NPT oil pressure port. A 3/16 Allen wrench is require to remove this plug.
Step 7 - Attach the new oil filter to the adapter and tighten about 1/4 - 1/2 turn after the gasket contacts the seal surface. Tightening beyond 1/4 - 1/2 turn will result in the filter being difficult to remove.
Step 8 - Check for the correct engine oil level. Check all bolts, plugs, fittings and filter for tightness. Start the engine and check the assembly for leaks.
